Real reviews of English-friendly barbers in Brno. Updated regularly with real expat experiences, prices, and honest opinions.

Finding an English-speaking barber in Brno isn’t always straightforward — especially if you’re new in town or don’t speak Czech.
Getting a haircut is already a complicated moment. I’m genuinely happy to still have hair at my age, but I can’t say I enjoy going to the barber — which is probably why I often end up looking like a mess.
So I decided to turn the problem into something useful: this guide.
I’ll keep testing barbers in Brno — especially from an expat perspective — and updating this page regularly with real experiences, prices, and honest reviews.
✂️ Best English-Friendly Barbers in Brno (Quick Overview)
- Gypsy Barber Collective – Best value (from 300 CZK)
- Royal Bastards Barbershop – Best quality finish (~700 CZK)
🪒 Why This Guide Exists
If you’ve ever tried to explain a haircut without knowing the right words — even in English — you know the feeling.
Many barbers in Brno don’t speak fluent English, and even when they do, explaining what you want isn’t always easy.
This guide focuses on places where communication is possible and the result is actually good — not just “good enough”.
✂️ Gypsy Barber Collective: A No-Nonsense Haircut in the Heart of Brno
Located just off Šilingrovo náměstí, precisely at Biskupská 267/8, Brno-střed, this small barbershop is as local as it gets.
🪞 First Impressions & Atmosphere
The place is minimalist, clean, and clearly popular — several Czech clients were waiting when I arrived. The “boss” of the shop, who also became my interpreter, spoke excellent English and supervised the young barber actually cutting my hair.
💬 Service & Communication
Punctual, efficient, and calm. No small talk, no fanfare — just Czech professionalism. The haircut took about an hour, which shows real care, especially since I barely gave any instructions.
💵 Price & Atmosphere
300 CZK for a full cut — very reasonable for Brno city center. Most clients were locals, but the mood wasn’t closed off. I was offered a glass of water; the boss enjoyed a beer. Background: reggaeton.
✅ Final Verdict
Not a tourist trap, not a hipster temple — just an honest, capable, and slightly chaotic barbershop where you’ll leave looking better than you arrived.
Expat-friendly rating: ★★★★☆
✂️ Royal Bastards Barbershop: Clean, Central, and a Step Up in Price
How did I end up choosing this place over the others? Simple: among the barbershops with a partially English booking system (Czech and English), this was the only one with a slot available the next day — many others were fully booked.
So I gave it a try. And for once, I trusted a woman with my haircut. It’s not the first time, of course — but generally, when I’ve had to pay someone to cut my hair, I’ve leaned toward men. Maybe it’s a habit, maybe something else. Still, I have to say: every time I’ve trusted a woman, the result has been excellent — and this time was no exception.
🪞 First Impressions & Atmosphere
Located right in the very center of Brno, at náměstí Svobody 17 (basically upstairs from Exit), the place is clean, bright, and well-designed. It definitely gives a more polished impression than the previous spot — and the price reflects that.
💬 Service & Communication
Once again, I had no clear idea of what haircut I wanted — or how to explain it. But the barber handled it in the simplest possible way: she grabbed a lock of hair between her fingers and asked, “Do you want it cut up to here?”
For the sides, I tried to give a few directions myself. The final result? A genuinely excellent haircut. The face is still the same, unfortunately — but the haircut was really, really good.
💵 Price & Atmosphere
The haircut cost just under 700 CZK, so more than double compared to the previous place. This time there were no clients waiting, and no one came in right after me.
There wasn’t much conversation during the 30-minute session, but I wasn’t there for small talk — I was there to get a haircut.
✅ Final Verdict
An excellent barbershop — not cheap, but the result is absolutely worth it. It doesn’t deserve less than the previous one, but I won’t rate it higher either because of the price.
