Discover the best late-night dining spots in Brno after 10 PM, from Italian to pub food, just minutes from the city center.

One of the things that surprised me the most when I moved to the Czech Republic was the local meal schedule. Lunch is at 11 AM, when in Italy (or other Mediterranean countries where I’ve lived) people would only be having a snack, and dinner starts as early as 6 PM, while in Britain, they’ve only just finished their 5 o’clock tea.
Every country has its customs, but what if we want to eat outside of those usual hours? While lunch is easy, as kitchens stay open throughout, dinner can be a challenge if you want to eat late. Finding a place to dine after 10 PM in Brno can be quite difficult, which can be a problem if you’re used to late dinners or if a delayed flight or other circumstance makes it necessary.
So, what are your options? Don’t worry—there are still places to grab a bite in Brno after 10 PM. You’ll find a few 24-hour grocery stores, like Nonstop Gigimarket on Divadelni Street and Nonstop večerka Joštova near Moravské Náměstí (although, be warned, the staff at the latter aren’t known for their friendliness). Plus, there’s always the reliable kebab spots, which we’ll review in a future post to crown the best kebab in Brno.
But what if you’re looking for a sit-down meal that’s a bit more substantial? Luckily, there are a few places near the center that stay open a little later than most, although they still close shortly after 10 PM. Here’s a list of late-night dining options, sorted by closing time:
- La Piazza: This Italian restaurant, previously mentioned as serving the best pizza in Brno (though we might need to update that ranking soon), allows you to order food until 10:30 PM.
- U Dřevěného vlka: A cozy pub near Zelny trh where you can grab food until 10:30 or 11 PM. They offer a wide variety of beers at reasonable prices, even in times of rising inflation.
- Potrefená Husa and U Třech čertů: Both located near Šilingrovo Náměstí, these pubs serve food until around 10:30 PM. Potrefená Husa is on the pricier side, though their tartare and Caesar salad are highlights, while U Třech čertů has an old-school vibe with great beer and a delicious pork knuckle (though you might have trouble ordering it late).
- Steakový a pivní bar Pod lékárnou: Open all night (or nearly all night), this place is a lifesaver for late-night diners. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the center, and the only downside is that they don’t accept card payments (unless they’ve recently changed that policy).
If you know of any other places in Brno that serve food late at night, or if the closing times we’ve listed are inaccurate (since they often depend on the mood of the waitstaff), feel free to let us know atexpat247 [AT] outlook.com.
